My older brother had a panic attack about a few minutes ago. We have come to a conclusion that improving his mental health will help him.. He currently has the following symptoms 1. Sucidal thoughts 2. Extreme anxiety 3. Lack of motivation 4. Anger management issues.. I am wondering if a psychiatrist would be better for him or a psychotherapy.. from my own experience psychiatrist usually just get you medication while a therapist will help him talk through it.. Hello It appears that your brother is going to lot at this point of time. It must be very difficult for you as a sibling. From what you have mentioned it appears that your brother may need a psychiatrist to begin with. Some amount of medication in combination with Counseling will be helpful. My suggestion would be to begin with a psychiatrist ( for medication ) and a then therapist ( for counseling and talk therapy) Take care.
