Hi doctor,
My son is 8 years old. I put all the vaccines as per the schedule. Now my doubt is somewhere I got the information as we should always put tetanus every 3 years to avoid from any wound infection. Is that so?
Do I need to put him tetanus again? I have attached his vaccine card. Please advice.
Thank you.

No need to repeat tetanus every 3 years. Next dose he should received is Tdap at 11 years. 5 years after that, if he gets injured, he will require a tetanus booster, and every 5 years henceforth

tetanus protection is already included in routine childhood vaccines, so there is no need to give tetanus injection every 3 years in a child who is fully vaccinated.
Your 8-year-old child would have typically received tetanus-containing vaccines as part of:
Primary series (DPT at 6, 10, 14 weeks)
Booster at 16–24 months
Booster at 4–6 years
After this, the next recommended booster is at 10 years (Tdap/Td) and then again at 16 years, not every 3 years.
No, give one dose at 10 years. Then 16 years.
In case child gets any injury which causes wound with bleeding, refer to an emergency or Pediatrician that time.
Based on the injury, they can decide to reinject the tetanus shot or not.
Hi dear
As per the latest guidelines there is no need of repeating the tetanus every 3 years ..
Your primary series along with boster dose are completed so now the next tetanus vaccine will
be at 10 year followed by 16 years ..
Next Steps
In case of any injury consult your doctor for further evaluation..
