Since the onset is acute, it might be due to an infection or injury. You might need an ultrasound and a physical examination. Till then you can try doing hot compressions and take a pain killer to alleviate the pain if it is too much.

"The visible swelling in your left hip/flank area, combined with a one-week history of pain, requires a focused clinical investigation. Given the location and the 'soft' appearance in the photograph, the most common possibilities are a Lipoma (a benign fatty lump), a Sebaceous Cyst, or a Localized Hematoma if there was any minor trauma. However, because this area is close to internal organs, we must also rule out a hernia or an inflammatory soft tissue collection (abscess). Since the pain has persisted for a week, it indicates that the tissue is under pressure or mildly inflamed

This looks like a localized soft tissue swelling and in many cases it can be treated well once properly evaluated 👍 An examination and ultrasound may be needed to confirm the exact cause. Please consult for proper assessment and guidance before it increases further.

Left hip swelling for a week could be a lipoma, sebaceous cyst, abscess, or lymph node enlargement — needs proper examination to rule out anything serious. Don’t ignore progressive swelling. Book a paid consult with me for clinical assessment; likely needs ultrasound to confirm diagnosis before any treatment.
