I had ORIF trimalleolar fracture surgery 2 months back. This Saturday on 3rd August after doing x ray i was told to walk with 100% body weight and with no support. I have been putting full body weight on my ankle from past 2 days. Due to which the ankle has swollen and i have been getting immense pain.
Is this normal?
Does walking too much help in sooner recovery?
If no, how gradually it should be increased?

Walking mobilises muscles.... This orevents disuse muscle atrophy and it also increases local blood circulation thereby enhancing bone union.
But be cautious, excessive loading or movements is know to cause implant failure, non union and delayed union.
Next Steps
