Hello, this is likely an infection Do not remove the earring — removing it can trap the infection inside and lead to an abscess. Clean the area gently twice a day with: Saline solution (preferable), Apply a topical antibiotic: Mupirocin or fusidic acid ointment, applied 2–3 times/day.
Next Steps
Better visit a Pediatrician and start oral antibiotic based on weight of the child
Health Tips
Seek Medical Attention If: Fever persists beyond 48 hours of starting treatment Redness or swelling is spreading Child is very irritable, lethargic, or systemically unwell Signs of abscess (fluctuant swelling) Embedded or very tight earring

A fever of 101°F in a 3-month-old is concerning and should be evaluated by a pediatrician. It may be due to a viral illness (as the sibling had fever) or a bacterial infection from the ear piercing, especially if there is pus. ⸻ Next Steps: • Visit a pediatrician today for examination. • Watch for signs like poor feeding, excessive sleepiness, or worsening pus. • Avoid applying more creams unless advised by the doctor. ⸻ Helpful Tips / Word of Caution: • Don’t squeeze or clean the piercing aggressively. • Delay piercings until the baby is older.
