My baby girl is 13 months old. Suddenly, this morning her temperature rises to 101. She was absolutely normal last night and no cold or cough though there was rain on the whole day. Also, she is full time at home playing around. We didn't take her outdoors as the climate was very cold and chill. What could be the reason for her fever? We gave paracetamol to subside her temperature levels.

You can't avoid infections in children as viruses are there all around . Response of rhe body to these infections actually builds up immunity in the children besides nutritious food , exercise and fresh air
So don't worry if she has fever . Give her paracetamol as and when she has temp more than 100 deg F . Most fevers are due to viral infections which subside within 3 to 5 days . Refrain from giving antibiotics unnecessarily
However when u are managing at home you most know some red flags when you should visit the hospital at once :
If fever persists beyond 4 days , her oral intake , urine output or activity decrease too much . If she has any abnormal behaviour or breathing difficulty or vomiting take her to the hospital .
