Sudden fever
Hi doctor My 2 year old son has sudden fever today. Day before yesterday i took him to the doctor for his loose motion. They told he has toddler diaherra with constipation. So they gave laxolite syrup 5 ml morning and night. I gave yesterday and today. And sudden fever today from evening. I am very worried. Does fever cause because of the syrup?

Hello The fever is unlikely to be from the syrup. It’s more likely a self-limiting viral illness. Continue supportive care and monitor closely.
Next Steps
Give paracetamol (15 mg/kg/dose every 6 hours if fever >100.4°F) Encourage fluids like ORS, coconut water, or breastmilk Continue giving Laxolite if advised, unless baby has diarrhea again Avoid over-bundling the child; keep clothing light
Health Tips
Red flags: Fever > 3 days Baby becomes unusually drowsy or irritable Poor feeding or urine output Breathing difficulty or rash

The fever is most probably viral and not because of the syrup as it is a medicine given to soften the stool in case of constipation.
Next Steps
Give paracetamol for fever, lots of oral fluids and ORS

Hello parent! Laxolite syp is used for softening the stools, for constipation. It is not the cause for fever. Fever is probably of viral origin
