Hi doctor
My 2 year old son has sudden fever today. Day before yesterday i took him to the doctor for his loose motion. They told he has toddler diaherra with constipation. So they gave laxolite syrup 5 ml morning and night. I gave yesterday and today. And sudden fever today from evening. I am very worried. Does fever cause because of the syrup?

Hello
The fever is unlikely to be from the syrup. It’s more likely a self-limiting viral illness. Continue supportive care and monitor closely.
Next Steps
Give paracetamol (15 mg/kg/dose every 6 hours if fever >100.4°F)
Encourage fluids like ORS, coconut water, or breastmilk
Continue giving Laxolite if advised, unless baby has diarrhea again
Avoid over-bundling the child; keep clothing light
