Strong willed child
Hello Doctor, can you please enlighten me about STRONG WILLED CHILDREN? I think mine is one.. but i am not sure. It has not been said by any professional - I just happened to read about it over the internet and found that my almost 5yr old has an uncanny resemblance to the characteristics. And even that I have been handling him in the exact same way, though unknowingly. I an not sure if it exists at all.. can anyone please throw some light?   Thank you.

Hi, Strong willed children are having strong self resolution. We can't assertively confirm about the same in a very early age. If you feel your child is  strong willed , please try to understand his behavioural pattern. Their behaviour can be stubborn/determined, self experiencing/ creative, bossy/ leadership, impulsive/ prompt, difficult to convince/ logical etc. Parenting has far reaching impact in Shaping their behaviour positively. Parents need to hold positive perspective while parenting . They need guidance to understand and mould themselves.

Health Tips
1. Use rewards (eg.verbal acknowledgement, small gifts, fav food etc) for desirable behaviours 2. Mandatary response cost for undesirable behaviour ( eg. no outdoor play if he does not rearrange his toys scattered on the floor ) 3. Consistent and sustainable house rules 4. Scope to explore his skills ( Eg.Mind games like puzzles to experience his creative skills)
