Stopping medication
Hi, My nephew  has been on anti-depressants since he was 14 due to depression and anxiety during the pandemic. He is fine now  etc. Don't see the benefit of this approach as anxiety about exams is a  part of growing up and we can get him therapy. Wanted a second opinion. Thanks

Is your cousin on regular treatment with a psychiatrist or continuing with the old medications. If you want to stop the medication then you have to taper down the same and not abruptly stopped. Preferably get him consulted with another psychiatrist and  get an opinion.

Kindly discuss this issue with the treating doctor. There must have been a reason your nephew was started on the medicines. Discuss the same and whether therapy will be helpful with the treating Psychiatrist

If he is free from any symptoms with regular medication then it can be tapered off by advise of treating psychiatrist. It should not be stopped on your own. And monitoring of the symptoms should be done for timely identification of recurrence.
Next Steps
Should consult treatment psychiatrist.
