I am having a sore throat and tonsil stones since a month.I am having mucus cough at times.I used to smoke but I have quit smoking now.I am afraid about having an HIV because I read in blogs about having sore throat.

Hello.......Hiv can present with so many other symptoms ,sore throat is one of them .. So many around world suffer from sore throat. Need not to connect them.. Gargle with salt water, avoid cold foods... Take course of antibiotics... Consult ent specialist in nearest hospital.
