My general physician ( from top hospital in Delhi) in a checkup asked me to get prescription for chintax 1mg from a psychiatrist. I have been a smoker since age of 18 and now I am 24. I have been smoking 14 cigs a day and it goes upto 20. My lungs as per the physician has started to get damage. Earlier too I have tried for quitting smoking using various methods including counseling and nicotine therapy etc. But it is of no use. So, I would like online counseling from someone who can tell of the above medicine is appropriate for me. And if yes, can there be online prescription. Thanks

Hello, Varenicline (Chintax/Champix) is a medication which is effective for smoking cessation. It is often combined with Nicotine replacement therapy (patches ke gums) and psychological intervention for smoking (self help tips/ brief intervention/ motivation enhancement therapy/ relapse prevention therapy). Hence the suitability of any of these treatment or their combination will need to be assessed in detail through a comprehensive assessment. Hence you will need to visit a psychiatrist for assessment, prescription and follow up. Hope this helps you..
