Hello Doctor, I am a 22-year-old female. I have a light-colored patch near my abdomen for the past 5-6 years. It causes itching, and it spreads slightly in a dot-like pattern. Previously, a doctor suspected it to be Vitiligo and prescribed Tofatus cream (to apply and show sunlight for 5 minutes) along with Zinc tablets. I noticed that when I applied the cream, the area and the skin around it became darker , but as soon as I stopped the medicine the white spot recurred. I am highly confused between a fungal infection (like Tinea Versicolor) and Vitiligo because of the itching. Currently, I am not using any medicine for it. Also, recently I have noticed a lot of my hair turning white. Please guide me on whether this patch looks like fungal or vitiligo based on these symptoms, and what should be my next step? Thank you!
