Skin Infection
Having ringworm in few parts of the body from last 6 months. It looks like ring-shaped rashes with edges that are slightly raised. The skin in the middle of these ring-shaped appears to be as white in colour. And the rashes are very itchy. I was prescribed medicines like histafree, canditral, grisovin and some ointments but still there is no sign of relief. Please advise..

The treatment for fungal infection is simple. You have to take anti fungal tablets and creams for 4 to 6 weeks following which it resolves. Do not apply soap on that area and do not self treat with over the counter steroid creams. Mistreatment with steroid creams like panderm, fourderm, betnovate, candid b etc and self treatment with cheaper generic medicine is the most common reason for recurrent disease. Another cause of recurrence is cross infection from other infected people in the house. Kindly call me or send photos using online consult option for accurate diagnosis and treatment.  If this is fungal infection, it needs to be treated as early as possible as it will spread further on your body  and also to other people in the household.

The problem the you are reporting could be a fungal infection of the skin. It needs to be treated with proper antifungal tablets and creams to completely eliminate the infection from the skin. However without proper examination and confirmation of the cause, treatment cannot be advised. Get an online consult privately with pictures or meet a dermatologist directly for a proper evaluation of the condition. Hope this was helpful.
