Skin enfection
My father is a bike mechanic and whenever he comes in contact with petrol. It causes skin enfection. It is happening for 1 year i think. Before that time , this type of problem was not with him. It had been treated by some doctors but As long as the medicines eat. Till then it is fine, and if the medicine is not eaten, then it becomes like as before.

What you are describing sounds like allergic contact dermatitis.
As the name suggests - it is an "allergy " due to "contact" .
Hence, unless he is able to change the profession or use gloves while working to avoid contact with the chemicals he will have to continue the medications to keep the reaction subsided. Hope this was helpful.
