Silent Gallstones
My mother's has multiple gallstones size 9mm.. They were symptomatic for 6 months after being detected but then we changed her diet and now she has no symptoms.. No pain.. No heaviness.. Her appetite is good.. So can we let go of the surgery? Should we consider the stones as Silent now and leave them alone? Will this be safe? Can she live her life with gallstones in her stomach? Please reply 🙏

Imagine a storage tank above your house with small pebbles in it. Is there any guarantee that they will never give a problem?! They will never comedown the pipes ,never get stuck somewhere ,never cause leaks in the wall due to obstruction ?!  Same concept. Some gallstones reduce in size with medicine, some dont. Which kind of stone is there now - that we only get to know after surgery once the specimen is out. So my advice would be - get operated.

Asymptomatic gall stones are particularly not bothersome. Medical therapy can be tried. Do organise a consult for further management.
