Should i removes plates??

Asked for Female, 32 Years

Hi Doctors, i recently met with an accident, broke one wrist and one ankle. Surgery done. Plates and screws have been put. Is it advisable to remove the same after a year or is it safe to keep it. Thanks for your response.

Hello mam, depending on the type of implants you can keep it permanently but very few implants like K wire or TBW Instrumentation should be removed. Or if implants are causing any pain or if there is infection then those implants should be removed
