Pain lasting more than an hour after an electric shock to the finger is not unusual â the electrical current can cause local tissue and nerve irritation at the contact point. If there is no visible burn mark, no blister forming, and you otherwise feel completely fine, the pain will typically settle on its own over a few hours. You can cool the area under running water if there is any burning sensation. No ointment is needed for a simple electric shock without a burn wound. However, after any electric shock you should watch for chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, or irregular heartbeat â even a minor shock can occasionally affect heart rhythm.
Next Steps
Monitor the finger for any burn or blister development. If chest pain, palpitations, or dizziness occur at any point, go to a doctor immediately. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
