Hello Your dr told you that you had Herpes simplex virus  type 2, commonly causing genital sores. HSV Type 1 causes oral sores mostly. HSV type 2  is common infection in sexually active persons and can cause genital sores, for which you were treated by anitivirals . HSV 2 remains in the body and may lie inactive or recur at times giving symptoms. as you had no symptoms for 4 years and had no sexual activity for 3 years ,what is your fear or what are your apprehensions now? .
Next Steps
consult a dermatologist,(  they are also veneralogist ) or you can chat with me or anyone you prefer to know more details before you go for expensive tests.
