I have got my dental cleaning done a week ago. I still feel sensitivity in my teeth and a Lil jaw pain. Also I have ulcers in my mouth post the cleaning procedure Been using Rexidin gel and Vantej toothpaste as told by the doctor. How long would the sensitivity persist? Why Sensitivity Happens After Cleaning • During scaling and polishing, tartar covering the tooth surface is removed → the underlying enamel/dentin gets exposed. • If there is gum recession or worn enamel, sensitivity may feel stronger. • Usually this sensitivity is temporary (few days to 2 weeks) and reduces gradually. 🔹 Common Post-Cleaning Issues • Tooth sensitivity (especially to hot, cold, sweet, or sour). • Mild jaw discomfort (from keeping the mouth open). • Mouth ulcers (can happen due to accidental trauma during cleaning or existing irritation). Management 1. Continue desensitizing toothpaste (like Vantej, Sensodyne, Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief) – brush with it twice daily, leave a little paste on sensitive teeth for 1–2 minutes before rinsing. 2. Mouth ulcer relief – Rexidin gel is fine. Alternatively, topical anesthetic gels (like Dologel CT, Mucopain) can help. 3. Avoid triggers – very hot/cold foods, acidic juices, very spicy food for a few days. 4. Warm salt water rinses – help healing of ulcers. 5. Good hydration and soft diet till ulcers heal. • Sensitivity: usually improves in 7–14 days. • Ulcers: generally heal within 5–7 days.

Post scaling sensitivity is normal. It lasts about a week or 2. Vantej toothpaste is good to reduce sensitivity. You can apply the paste to the teeth and keep it for 10 seconds and then brush it off. Rexidin gel is recommended for ulcers. See them for a week, if it's not subsiding even then, please visit your dentist for further evaluation.
Next Steps
to review after a week with the dentist

Hello ma'am , if the sensitivity is persisting post scaling what you can do is apply the toothpaste ( vantej ) or use a de-sensitizing toothpaste( thermokind kf ) on all the teeth for a couple of minutes and then start brushing. For ulcers you can rinse your mouth with warm salt water and use dologel ct locally.
Next Steps
if the problem persists after 4-5 days , you can visit the concerned dental professional handling your treatment.
