Rsv vaccine for 38 old adult
What is your opinion on taking RSV vaccine for a 38 year old male who don't have any history of pneumonia or other severe respiratory illness. Bangalore climate causes frequent tiring cold attacks and throat infection with loss of sound . I have already taken flu vaccine and pcv13 ,ppsv23 combination. Who long does rsv vaccine immunity last?.

All the vaccines for flu are effective only for one year. One vaccine taken this year may not be effective next year.

RSV vaccination is not typically recommended for a healthy 38-year-old male without underlying chronic conditions. Frequent cold and throat infections in Bangalore are often triggered by environmental allergens, pollution. The RSV vaccine specifically targets the Respiratory Syncytial Virus and will not prevent common colds or bacterial throat infections.
Next Steps
Consult to check if your symptoms are related to allergic rhinitis or post-nasal drip. Using an N95 mask during traffic or windy days and regular saline nasal sprays may be more effective for these specific symptoms than an RSV vaccine.
Health Tips
RSV vaccines are primarily approved in Western markets their availability for routine adult use in India may still be limited compared to standard flu shots

It’s great that you are proactive about your health and have already covered your Flu and Pneumococcal (PCV13/PPSV23) vaccinations. Regarding the RSV vaccine: Currently, the RSV vaccine is not recommended for healthy adults under the age of 60. The clinical benefit is mostly for older adults or those with severe lung and heart conditions. It would likely not prevent the frequent colds or throat infections you are experiencing in Bangalore, as those are usually caused by other viruses or environmental allergens. My Recommendations for You: Allergy Evaluation: Given your symptoms of "loss of sound" and frequent throat infections, you may benefit more from checking for allergic rhinitis. Environmental Protection: Using a high-quality (N95) mask during peak Bangalore traffic or high-pollen days and using a saline nasal spray may reduce these "cold attacks" more effectively than an RSV vaccine. Current Vaccines: Your flu shot is your best defense against the most severe viral respiratory illness for your age group. Continue getting that annually. Immunity for the RSV vaccine currently lasts for about two seasons, but again, it is not indicated for your age group at this time.

At your age RSV vaccine is generally not needed, unless there is lowering of immunity due to some disease like diabetes or taking immune suppressive therapy. Adopt  measures like use of face mask, regular steam inhalation,  pranayam, take more of fresh green vegetables, citrus fruits. Tab limcee 500mg one morning and one evening before breakfast before meals. Also get ENT check up done to exclude a deviated nasal septum,  which can cause recurrent cold.
