I have been cleaning out a storage shed. Some of the boxes seem to contain very old mouse droppings, and there is a lot of mold. I am cleaning them out outside. Tonight when I was finished I developed a scratchy threat, slight cough, and runny nose. I am concerned about hantavirus. Maybe a mold allergy? Does hantavirus come on within hours? Freaking out at this point....

This can be a mold allergy such as to aspergillus. It is highly unlikely to be hantavirus. Anti allergens should help and avoid going to that area if possible.

It is unlikely to be an infection rather an allergic reaction to the exposure to the mould and dust. You would require antihistamines. These following symptoms may help:
- Avoid cold food and water, preferably have hot food and water
- Don't skip meals have a liquid diet containing soups and progressively increase to solid diet as per how you can tolerate.
- Have food rich in vitamin C such as oranges to help build immunity.
- Drink plenty of fluids, drink 3 liters of water per day
- Do salt water gargling with lukewarm water thrice a day
- Do steam inhalation (plain steam) thrice a day and apply vaporub over your chest and nose
- Maintain good personal hygiene
- Rest plenty, body heals while at rest
