28F with oily skin and recurrent acne for months, mainly jawline/chin, cheeks and some forehead. Used clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide spot treatment which heal pimples but new ones keep returning. Started adapalene nightly in late Feb (now ~13 weeks). Around weeks 4–8 I experienced a major purge with many small whitehead-like bumps and pimples across my forehead, cheeks, jawline and chin. Most of that has now settled and marks/spots seem to be improving, but still getting recurring whiteheads/pimples mainly jawline/sideburn area and forehead.
The pattern sometimes seems worse around my period, though I’m not fully sure. I recently switched to a benzoyl peroxide face wash and still use benzoyl peroxide as spot treatment when needed. I briefly tried azelaic acid, but it caused some itching/peeling around my jaw area so I paused it. Does this sound hormonal/persistent acne and should I continue topicals or consider oral treatment/change in regimen?

Hi there..
Acne is multifactorial..
Hormonal changes are almost always present to different degrees.
Good to do something called a LH:FSH ratio to rule out what has recently gone through a name change to PMOS.
My personal opinion is yes probably best to consider oral treatment especially if you are not married or planning to conceive in the next 6-9 months.

Acne or pimples... Due to hormonal changes..Oily skin causes it...Common in adolescent age...May occur in adults also.. Food like Oily foods, ice cream, chocolate and sweets increase it.. Treatment depends on the grade of pimples or acne..So, please send photos by direct online consultation as it's a must to see which grade of pimples or acne for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Hormonal issues could have been there and proper examination is required in your case to see stage of your acne amd then yes we might have to put you on oral treatment.
So kindly consult for a proper treatment.
No need to worry.specific treatment is available.it depends on severity of the disease . Complete medical history is required..
Pls do online consultation with Dermatologist for detailed prescription & guidance.
