Do not worry regarding this issue that it is not prescribed in many countries or India because/* it is the most common medications that is being prescribed by psychiatrist in combination with other medication but this will be tapered and stopped in few months
* Along with cilapram , you are taking this for 15 days, do not stop it on own, it will lead to reoccurrence of symptoms
/* In follow up visit, you can discuss with your doctor, or doctor will try to taper it first in next few months once you have more significant response
* It's not associated with any major side effect
/* Cilapram is main medication, along with it you continue relixol, no other medications needed
In further follow up visit, cilapram will be continued only
Relixol (flupentixol + melitracen) was officially banned in India in 2013, but due to court stays, it’s still available; however, it's not approved in many countries and is considered a controversial combination. Since you’ve taken it for only 10–15 days and haven’t experienced any side effects, there’s likely no harm done, but you should not stop it abruptly on your own.
Next Steps
consult a psychiatrist for further evaluation and treatment plan
Relixol is a fixed dose combination of flupentixol and melitracen, used for depression and anxiety symptoms, particularly when emotional flatness and lack of motivation are present along with physical fatigue. Flupentixol is a mild antipsychotic in low doses with antidepressant properties, and melitracen is a tricyclic antidepressant. This combination was widely prescribed for functional anxiety and somatic depression in earlier decades. It is true that this fixed combination is not approved or recommended in many countries due to lack of updated regulatory support, not because it is immediately harmful. In India, it is still used in specific cases under psychiatric supervision. If you have been taking it for about ten to fifteen days without any unusual side effects like excessive drowsiness, restlessness, stiffness, or irregular heartbeat, then there is no urgent need to panic or stop it suddenly.
Next Steps
Do not stop Relixol abruptly without replacement or taper, as doing so can lead to a rebound of symptoms such as anxiety, low mood, or disturbed sleep. Since you are already taking cilapam at night, which contains escitalopram, your treatment can eventually be streamlined to a single, modern antidepressant that covers both mood and anxiety. You should consult with your psychiatrist to see if you can gradually stop Relixol while continuing cilapam and possibly adjusting its dose if needed. If Relixol is helping you feel functional, emotionally steady, and less anxious, it is not dangerous in the short term. But it is wise to consider a switch to a safer and more current single molecule once your system is stable
Health Tips
Support your recovery with early morning walks in natural light, a fixed meal and sleep schedule, and warm, fresh food. Avoid all stimulants like caffeine, strong tea, or energy drinks during recovery. Begin your day with a light breathing practice such as alternate nostril breathing or bhramari. If your digestion slows down due to medication, add soaked raisins or warm jeera water mid-morning. This will keep your nervous system calm and reduce medicine-related fatigue. Emotional healing does not only come from medicineâit also comes from rhythm, warmth, and routine.
