If your symptoms are maintained on the current medications, there should not be any problem in switching to 10 mg immediate release. You might experience the waving away effect sooner with this as compared to sustained release one but since it is a very less dose, chances of experiencing the change is very less. Also, you should consult online on further plan of action as it seems your doses are being tappered which should be done under supervision.

Propranolol sustained release (SR) tablets should not be split, as doing so can alter the release profile and lead to fluctuations in blood levels. If a lower dose is required, it’s safer to switch to an immediate-release (IR) preparation such as propranolol 10 mg. If propranolol is being tapered or discontinued after long-term use, it should be done gradually under medical supervision to avoid rebound tachycardia (temporary increase in heart rate). Always consult your prescribing doctor before changing the formulation or dosage.

Propranolol sustained release is seldom available in 10 mg dose. You may take immediate release of any brand if you are tapering off. Propranolol does not increase heart rate however since it decreases heart rate, it can lead to rebound tachycardia.

Sustained release tablet may be rendered ineffective if broken in half. Take a plain formulation instead. Continue taking medication as per treating doctors advise.
