Regarding cough syrup

Hope you are doing well. My grandmother kidney transplant recipient since 1999 is having creatinine of 1.4 and urea 33. She is having coughing from last 3 days. We are using strepsils (cofsils) , Vicks for her and looking for good cough syrup. Kindly guide which cough syrup can she take which is safe for kidneys? Can we use steaming also ?

For kidney patients there is not much problem in choosing a Cough syrup.
Don't go for Herbal Cough syrup.
Don't go for syrups with Terbutaline and Asthalin
Any cough syrup with Dextrometarphan and Guafanesan is good enough.
