Regarding 5 month old baby
Hello Dr K baby will complete 5 month this 25. He has not passed stool since last 12 days. Want to ask if it's normal. Should I start giving him boiled water? currently he is totally on breastfeed. What else I can mix in water so as to pass him stool? As after he will complete his 6 month I m going to start complementary feed. Kindly suggest

Not passing stools for 12 days is definitely abnormal. Please check if baby is passing gas and if abdomen is distended.
Next Steps
Imaging study of abdomen (MRI) is advised to rule out Hirschprung disease, which can cause such constipation.
Health Tips
Consult a Pediatric Surgeon with a picture of baby's abdomen.

There is no need to give water at this stage. At this point of time it is recommended to give a glycerin suppository under supervision of a doctor or health care worker. Continue exclusive breast feed till 6 months and then add family foods to the diet like dal, Dalia , khichdi ,mashed veggies.

No stools for 12 days is not normal. Pass a dulcolax suppository through the anus, that will help him pass stools. And in case the child is not eating well or is vomiting, you should visit a pediatrician or a pediatric surgeon near you... And you should continue on breast feed currently till this problem settles. Stools once in 4-5 days maximum is normal for this ge but not more.
