Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT Based on your symptoms—discomfort in the throat and visible redness of the tonsils—this likely indicates an acute pharyngotonsillitis, which is usually viral but can also be bacterial in some cases. Since you’ve started salt water gargles and antibiotics, and are noticing some relief, it’s a positive sign. However, a few key points to consider: Possible Causes: Viral infection (most common): Symptoms are usually self-limiting. Bacterial tonsillitis (e.g., Group A Streptococcus): Can cause more severe symptoms, sometimes requiring a full antibiotic course. Allergic postnasal drip or irritants (smoke, pollution) can also lead to throat discomfort. Gastroesophageal reflux might cause chronic throat irritation if associated with acidity.
Next Steps
Continue warm salt water gargles 3–4 times daily Stay hydrated – lukewarm fluids are soothing Avoid cold, spicy, or acidic foods Use a humidifier if you’re in a dry environment
Health Tips
When to Worry: High-grade fever (>101°F) Difficulty in swallowing or breathing Pus points or white patches on the tonsils Persistent or worsening symptoms despite 3–5 days of antibiotics Neck swellings or ear pain

There is infection in throat. Which antibiotics you are taking? betadine gargle three times a day for 5 days. It's not serious. It will go with medicine.
