RBC AND HEMOGLOBIN
I have recently ordered a blood test in which there is a abnormality I have found. My vitamin B12 level is 174pg/ml, which is lower than normal where as My red blood cell count is 5.68 * 10^6 /ul,which is higher than normal. From what I have read, low level of B12 should indicate low rbc. My question is why this abnormality? Should I go for more through testing? I can show my blood report if it helps further

Hi, yes your b12 levels are low which would require supplementation. And regarding your RBC count according to some medical literature it is normal upto 5 million and according to others it is normal upto 6 million. Mildly increase can be usually due to dehydration at the time of giving sample, or it could be due to lung disease like asthma, or chronic smoking could also be a reason.
Next Steps
For your b12 tab. Benformet forte once daily for 30 days, if your a pure vegetarian then Continue it until you consult dietician who can advise you foods which can provide adequate amount of b12. And do not worry about your rbc count. It is completely normal. Keep yourself hydrated.
