Don’t worry 😊 if the skin was intact, no additional vaccine is needed you’re already well protected.

According to WHO guidelines, a dog lick on intact skin (where there are no cuts or wounds) is classified as a Category I Exposure, which carries zero risk and requires no vaccination. Furthermore, since you completed a full 4-dose course in May-June 2025, your body already has a baseline of 'Anamnestic Memory' (immune memory). Clinically, if the skin was perfectly intact at the site of the lick, no further booster or full course is indicated. However, if there was even a minor scratch or broken skin where the lick occurred, the protocol changes to a Category II exposure."
Next Steps
Skin Assessment: Carefully inspect the area where the dog licked you under a bright light. If there is any redness, tiny scratch, or pre-existing raw skin, you must opt for a booster dose. Observe the Animal: If the dog is a pet or a local stray that you can monitor, keep an eye on its behavior for the next 10 days. If the dog remains healthy, it adds an extra layer of reassurance . Verification of Previous Records: Keep your 2025 vaccination certificate handy. In case of any future 'Category II or III' (bite/scratch) exposure, having this record means you would only need 2 booster doses (Day 0 and Day 3) instead of a full course.
