Essen Regimen Schedule (WHO and CDC-approved):
Day 0 – First dose
Day 3 – Second dose
Day 7 – Third dose
Day 14 – Fourth dose
Day 28 – Fifth (final) dose
Next Steps
Your doctor said Day 21 — that is incorrect.
The fifth dose must be on Day 28, not Day 21, according to WHO and CDC guidelines and the manufacturer's instructions (Rabipur).
> The confusion often arises due to different regimens (e.g., Zagreb or abbreviated intradermal schedules), but for Essen (I/M, 5-dose), Day 28 is mandatory.
Dear Practo User.
Thanks for sending across your query.
follow the ESSEN regimen strictly: Rabipur injections are given on days 0, 3, 7, 14, and 21. Day 28 is not part of this schedule. Complete your 5th dose on day 21 as advised by your doctor.
