Rabies Vaccination Doubt
I don't know till now that if previously immunized with 4 doses Rabies Vaccination then  only two Rabies Booster Doses are needed on day 0 and day 3 for next exposure I completed the full 4-dose primary rabies vaccination schedule (Days 0, 3, 7, and 28) 9 months ago. Recently, after a new potential exposure, I began another 4-dose regimen and have already taken the first two doses on Day 0 and Day 3. Can I skip the remaining two doses (Day 7 and Day 28)? Will the two doses I’ve already taken (Day 0 and Day 3) count as valid booster doses and can I be assured of being fully protected from these two doses (Day 0 and Day 3)only? Or are rabies booster doses different from this ?

If there is blood with wound i suggest an immunoglobulin dose on bite site and 3 dose ARV 0-3-7. This is to neutralize the viral load on wound site also to activate the immunity faster.

Hi! You're absolutely right to ask this. Since you had the complete 4-dose vaccination 9 months ago, you fall under the "previously vaccinated" category per WHO guidelines. In such cases, only 2 booster doses (Day 0 and Day 3) are required after any new exposure. There is no need to take the full 4-dose regimen again — so yes, you can safely skip Day 7 and Day 28. These 2 doses you’ve already taken (Day 0 & Day 3) are valid and enough to give you full protection. ✅ No difference between these booster doses and what you’ve taken — it’s the same vaccine, just different in number based on prior immunization. 👉 For any doubts about the exposure or wound severity, feel free to consult me privately.

Since it is within one year of the previous Anti-rabies vaccination you can omit the remaining ARV doses.
