Psychiatry Treatment and Suggestion
I am taking Paroxetine CR 12.5 mg at night for the past 1 month for anxiety, mild depression, and premature ejaculation. My anxiety symptoms are somewhat better, but I am having some gastrointestinal issues. I am experiencing consistent semi-loose stools, especially at night or when my anxiety level increases. Sometimes I also feel the urge to pass stool soon after eating, which feels similar to IBS-type symptoms. I would like to ask whether this could be a side effect of Paroxetine or related to anxiety. Is this common while taking this medicine? Also, can I take a probiotic like Darolac or any other probiotic regularly after breakfast or lunch to improve digestion and stool consistency? Is it safe to take probiotics daily along with Paroxetine, and are there any side effects or interactions? Please also advise if there are any dietary or lifestyle changes that could help manage these symptoms. Thank you.

Yes, common—paroxetine can cause loose stools, and anxiety can also trigger IBS-type symptoms. Probiotics (like Darolac) are safe to take daily with it. Eat light, avoid spicy/caffeine, add fiber. If persistent or troublesome, consult doctor for dose adjustment or change.
