Prolonged periods
Hi I am 46 years..I have had normal periods so far..but in the last 3 to 4 months my periods are becoming prolonged..from the usual five days, it now lasts for 6 to 7 days, last period was for 6 days,before that for 9 days.. I start passing small clots from day 6 while urinating Ultra sound is normal with very 2 small fibroids It's due to hormonal.imbalances with estrogen dominance.. How can I control this? Will having Flax seeds, sunflower seeds,aggravate this ..can anything with phytoestrogenic effect be consumed like Flax seeds, fennel seeds? What else can be consumed and what has to be avoided My iron levels are low..haemoglobin is 10.7 and ferritin only 5 I am.on orofer xt syrup ..can iron supplements cause prolonged bleeding? Kindly suggest how can estrogen dominance be avoided and hormonal balance be achieved Thanks

Your ferritin is very very low. I recommend having iron glycinate form. Kindly consult your Gynecologist on the same. To replenish iron levels, it is going to take some time, meanwhile you can also check with your Dr for IV infusion so that iron levels can be built faster. Meanwhile also focus on Vit C and iron rich foods. make sure to include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Seeds are ok to be included. Kindly check your hormonal profile with FSH, LH, testosterone, estrogen on Day-2 of your periods and progesterone on day 21 of your cycle to get a picture of your hormones.
