Progesterone in first trimester

Asked for Female, 34 Years

I'm 34 yrs old and 5 weeks pregnant. Doc prescribed me micronised progesterone 200 along with folic acid. Can i take this progesterone in the first trimester? What is the purpose of this medicine? Will it be safe?
