Hi Docs,
I have been planning for pregnancy since almost 8months now but not got any positive results. I visited gynaecologist and they prescribed some hormonal medicine like ovifert, quinfol, letroz etc.
I am feeling to start some ayurvedic medicine like shatavari and ashwagandha with these to support the conception. My all medical reports are normal and not that bad that I cannot get pregnant.my husband is diabetic and he is taking diabecon ds now instead of elopathic medicine as it was affecting his efficiency and stamina with other issues as well related to reproductive system.
Please suggest if me and my husband can take shatavari and ashwagandha additional shilajit for my husband as he has sperm motility issue.
I am tired of visiting gynaecologist.
Please suggest here to support my treatment and also if these medicines are safe to be taken with other elopathic hormonal medicine.
Thanks in advance

Considering your age factor , i would suggest not To self medicate with any herbs without proper Assessment. There are many factors on which conception is dependant and when people follow the right way they get results even when modern science fails. So first I would suggest that both of you do your Free HAIP DIET Body Type Analysis along with Free HAIP DIET Autoimmune Analysis and Free HAIP DIET Sibo Analysis. This will help to ascertain what imbalances you may be facing which is going to set a road map to chalk out what corrective measures are needed. Secondly, start following HAIP DIET based on the anti-inflammatory principles of Ayurveda that will help not only to detox your body but also minimize the ill effects that you may be facing due to hormonal medications. Along with that the most important thing that you both need to do is include the HAIP Rebalancing Body and Mind practices that will help manage stress associated with this entire ordeal that can have a major effect on the rates of conception . In addition to all this, we need to tailor the right herbs and supplements individualized based on HAIP ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS and symptom analysis that are not only gentle on the body but also nourishing to the reproductive system. Hundreds of couples have benefited with the protocol and following it in the right way is the key. The consultation is valid for 30 days so that you can be guided to the process correctly. Please don't fall for wrong chatgpt or Google remedies which are not going to solve the purpose.
Thank you for choosing and trusting Ayurveda. In my opinion it will be beneficial to visit or consult in person with all the reports to rule out the root cause as well as proper treatment.
Shatavri andashvgandha has good result for female fertility.consult your dr.for sperm count he can add shilajeet kronchbij, sfademusli twice aday but consult.
Next Steps

Based on your query and my current understanding:
1. Safety of Combining Ayurvedic and Allopathic Hormonal Medicines
- Ayurvedic medicines and allopathic (hormonal) drugs can sometimes be taken together, but only under medical supervision, as there may be drug interactions or increased risk of side effects.
- Mixing medicines without expert advice can cause harmful interactions. Some Ayurvedic substances (such as certain herbs) may affect the metabolism or potency of allopathic drugs, especially hormones.
- Always inform both your gynecologist and any Ayurvedic practitioner about all medications you and your husband are using. Never self-medicate or combine medicines without expert guidance.
2. Shatavari and Ashwagandha for Fertility
-Shatavari: Traditionally used as a female reproductive tonic, shatavari is purported to help with ovulation, uterine health, and hormonal balance. Typical dose is 1–2g of powdered root per day, but consult a qualified Ayurveda doctor for your case.
Ashwagandha: Known for adaptogenic (anti-stress) effects. Evidence suggests it may support male and female fertility by increasing sperm count and motility in men, improving hormone balance, and supporting ovarian health in women.
- Both herbs are considered generally safe for most people, but long-term or high doses may cause side effects such as gastrointestinal upset, and should be taken under professional supervision[4].
3. Shilajit for Male Fertility and Sperm Motility
- Scientific studies suggest shilajit supplementation can increase sperm count, sperm motility, and quality in men with fertility challenges.
- Shilajit is also rich in minerals and antioxidants that may help protect sperm from oxidative stress. Again, safe dosing and quality are essential always consult a doctor before starting.
Next Steps
- Consult an expert before combining ayurvedic and allopathic medicines, especially hormonal therapies.
- Individualized assessment by both your gynecologist and a qualified Ayurveda practitioner is strongly recommended for you and your husband.
- If you feel exhausted from repeated gynecologist visits, consider asking for a fertility specialist evaluation or a comprehensive approach including stress management, diet, and lifestyle, instead of just medication changes.
If you have already tried hormonal therapy as prescribed, and all medical reports are normal but conception has not occurred, a multidisciplinary approach including, but not limited to, alternative therapies may be beneficial.
Health Tips
Before starting any new treatment (including shatavari, ashwagandha, shilajit), consult both your allopathic and Ayurvedic doctors to avoid negative interactions and ensure optimal safety
All the best!! 🙂👍
Dear Madam,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns so openly. I understand how stressful and exhausting it can be when pregnancy does not happen despite repeated efforts and visits to doctors. Please don’t worry — you are not alone in this situation, and with the right evaluation and guidance, we can surely plan a better way forward.
Regarding your query:
Ayurvedic medicines like Shatavari, Ashwagandha, and Shilajit can help in supporting reproductive health, improving stamina, and addressing sperm motility issues in men.
However, it is very important to individualize the treatment after reviewing your reports and history, especially since you are already on hormonal medicines prescribed by your gynecologist.
_To give you the best and safest treatment plan, I would request you to kindly book a consultation. This will help me understand both your and your husband’s complete medical background and reports, so that the Ayurvedic medicines can be started in the correct dosage and combination without interfering with your ongoing allopathic treatment.
_I assure you that with proper guidance, things can be managed more effectively, and you will feel more confident in your journey toward conception.
Looking forward to assisting you,
Dr. Mirza Atib Noor Baig
Next Steps
_Even with Ayurvedic treatment, some basic investigations are needed to guide the correct line of therapy. These include:
Hormonal profile (FSH, LH, AMH, Prolactin, Thyroid function tests)
Blood sugar, HbA1c (for your husband)
Semen analysis (motility, count, morphology)
Pelvic ultrasound (if not already done)
I understand your concern. Since your reports are normal and you are already on fertility medicines prescribed by your gynecologist, you can safely support your treatment with certain Ayurvedic formulations. For you, Shatavari is very beneficial in improving reproductive health and supporting conception, and it can be continued along with your current hormonal medicines. Ashwagandha is generally safe but better suited for your husband, especially in cases of stress, stamina, and sperm health. For your husband, Ashwagandha and Shilajit together with Diabecon DS can help improve energy, sperm motility, and reproductive strength; these are safe to take alongside his diabetic medicines. Both of you should follow a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management practices like meditation or yoga as these also strongly influence fertility. Ayurvedic medicines mentioned are safe with allopathic treatment, but the doses should be individualized by a qualified Ayurvedic physician after direct consultation.
