Weight loss due to metformin will not affect the baby and insulin benefits are more than side effects. Your exact sugar levels need to be seen before further treatment is decided.
Next Steps
Consult a gynaecologist with sugar monitoring

Yoh should start metformin. Dose, insulin needs to be added or not... Will be decided by your sugar levels.
