Hello doctors, first of all thanks for each and every doctor out there, who is taking their time and answering questions for each and every person that raise question on Practo.
My question is, after getting recovered from COVID, how many days do I need to wait to get vaccine? And is it same time frame for everyone?
Example, for a person who got extreme treatment in hospital bed and for the person who got recovered at home isolation with few medications.
I've heard the time frames are around 1-3 months to get vaccine post COVID .
If that's the case, how likely a recovered person can catch virus again? Isn't there a chance of getting infected within these duration ? Don't they catch virus in this period ?

Current guidelines suggest you need to wait 90 days after covid infection for getting vaccinated. This is irrespective of whether you have a mild or severe infection.
The antibodies produced during the covid infection can protect you from reinfection with the same strain of covid virus for upto 2-4 months. Hence it is essential to use mask, maintain hand hygiene and social distancing .
Well yes in both cases it’s same . Chances of get reinfection is also present . But that is also present after getting vaccinated. It’s actually same post covid or infected . 1 st measure is always precautions
It is advised that you take covid vaccine after 3 to 3 and a half month , post covid recovery , before vaccine , get ur rtpcr test done and crp done, if negative and normal, then only go for vaccine
