Possibly MDD
My friend has lost his interest in life. He was very industrious, responsible and had good self-esteem. But now he doesn't want to do anything. He is currently pursuing B. Tech in Civil Engineering and just got one more month of studies left to do. But he is willing to ruin the degree by not doing anything. He's skipping the Seminar events, the final year project and now exams are on the way. He went to a psychiatrist in his hometown who gave him some drugs and said it would be fine in a few days, which it wasn't clearly, when he returned. He was the same. He said that he is doing all this willingly, said he's in control of his actions. Many of his friends have tried to talk him out of this situation but in vain. All he does is sleep. He tried committing suicide, but it wasn't as serious. He's also self-abusive and considers himself inferior and worthless (He's the 4th most marks scoring guy in his class). His friends and family are helpless. Please guide us. PS:I'm one of his friends.

It's a very good gesture which I need to appreciate you. The concern  you have upon your friend is great. Do fix an appointment with a psychological counselor in your city a d take him personally  to them. Once,  if he Shahid issues or problems,  probably,  he might get a clarity. It is a challenge,  yet very very fruitful results might happen in his life. All the best.
