Pleural effusion continues
My brother is diagnosed Pleurisy &Pneumonia. After 11 days of antibiotics through IV, pleural effusion still continues. Doctor planning for biopsy as the cause is unclear. Pleural fluid tests came negative for tb, culture and malignancy. So please advise what can be the possible causes for it.

How much is the pleural effusion... i guess it will be best to get the biopsy done under thoracoscopy. In pneumonia, effusion may take time to settles down.
