Personal abscess and fistulatomy
Hi , I am breast feeding mother of 4 months baby. I initially had my 1st personals abscess when I am 3 months pregnant and underwent surgery. I again got this now with fistula track present. Surgery is done and got pus culture. Want to know with the presence of bateria “ klebsiella pneumoniae” inside me, I can still continue to breastfeed ..? bacteria is it okay to continue to breastfeed or not. I am prescribed to take Cepodem 200 mg tablets twice daily after food for 5 days.

Hello, No need to worry. Kebsiella pneumoniae is a common commensal present in any human and can infect fistula. Continue prescribed antibiotic you while breastfeeding. can use local metronidazole ointment. Once the baby is weaning in 2 montha, consult a surgeon and get a definite treatment
