Periods missing since November
Issue: My periods are irregular and I'm having a LOT of difficulty trying to lose weight. For reference, I have been going through a lot so I will mention it here: When I went to get checked why my periods are missing, I came to know after doing a bloodtest in April that I was in the subclinical hypothyroid range, and I was in the Prediabetic range, and my right foot top area (below my first four toes) has been swollen since May. Due to that I cannot gym or exercise and my schedule is too mentally exhausting to go for walks though I am considering it. I wake up in the afternoon and have breakfast at that time and skip lunch and then directly tea and a biscuit or snacks, then dinner. I stopped eating desserts and have more control on diet and still I am not losing weight nor getting my periods since November. PLEASE HELP!! 🙏🏻 Suggest me dietary supplements or changes that will induce periods please. As well as for weight loss what do I do?

It shows that u have inflammation in body especially your Adrenal gland & ovary axis is effected . Period delayed can be due to thyroid but absence of period is due to excess stress and poor sleep pattern and insulin sensitivity. To fix this you can do few safe options and routine changes . 1. Focusing on dietary and lifestyle corrections is essential, as irregular periods and difficulty with weight loss are often linked to inconsistent routines, metabolic stress, and hormonal imbalance. Here is what you can do: - Follow regular meal timings. Avoid skipping meals or eating late in the day, as this disrupts insulin and hormone balance. - Ensure each meal includes adequate protein, which supports metabolism and helps regulate blood sugar levels. - Include controlled portions of complex carbohydrates which will help you keep satiated and maintain your blood sugar levels. - Add healthy fats in moderation, as they are essential for hormone production. - Limit refined snacks, biscuits, and frequent tea-time eating, which can spike insulin even without obvious sugar intake. - Regular physical activity at least 5 days a week is very important to reduce fat mass and improve your hormonal balance. - Adequate sleep of 7-8 hours everyday will maintain your hormonal balance and improve insulin sensitivity.

Hello, This is Priya Jain, Clinical Nutritionist (Mumbai) At 26, with hypothyroidism and prediabetes, it’s common to experience delayed periods and difficulty with weight loss. These conditions affect hormones and metabolism, so progress may be slow—and that’s completely okay. Please don't rush or stress your body.
Next Steps
1. Eat regular and balanced meals (do not skip your meal) 2. Gradually increase protein intake. 3. Stay well hydrated. 4. Since you have a swollen toe, avoid high impact exercises for now. Even a 10-15 minute walk at a pace you can tolerate. 5. You might have to start taking thyroid and vitamin D medications under doctor consultation. 6. Follow a proper diet plan by a dietician for at least 6 months to see results.

You also need to test for other hormones apart from thyroid- eatradiol, progesterone, FSH, LH, testosterone. Also check for thyroid antibodies - Anti thyroid globulin and TPO to rule out autoimmunity - Hashimotos thyroiditis. Also check for VitD and Vit B12 to rule out deficiencies and CBC markers. Supplements can be prescribed after thorough examination. You need a lot of support and handholding in your journey to loose weight and regulate your hormones. Pls book a consult, I will guide you

You need to follow a proper diet consultation. Better will be to go for the complete analysis and take a diet as per your body temperament and constitution. Weight loss can be done with the right and healthy eating. Kcal deficit is a myth and here you are doing the same. It will not lead to weight loss even you may tend to have inflammation and water retention. Better idea will be to get to know the root cause by getting done your scientific analysis and body heat level (vata) checked and go accordingly
