Clinical examination of the area of swelling has to be done..After removal of tooth swelling may be there for 7-10 days but even if it persists then get it checked from a dentist with proper x ray to see whether any broken part of tooth has been left in the place.

Swelling for one week after extraction is normal. But if the swelling persists there might be a chance of a tooth peice being still inside.
An xray might be advised to confirm the same.
You need to visit a dentist for consultation. After wisdom tooth removal by surgical method, swelling can be there upto 2 weeks. Do not panic, it will subside slowly. If severe pain, few days after removal then you may be suffering from DRY SOCKET which will also take a while to subside.
