Pelvic Pain
From the past 2 weeks I am having pelvic pain, but 1week ago I had unbearable pain which I a was unable to ignore so, I rushed to a orthopaedic doctor, there the doctor took an X-Ray and found no bone damage or deformities and gave me with a pain killer injection and some pain killer tablets which are giving me relaxation. And also recommended me to go through an MRI scan. But I want dont want to undergo MRI. Is there any solution. Note - Whenever I move my lower body i.e. legs, hips etc a tight contraction occurs in my buttock region which further leads to unbearable pain, whether I am walking sitting or laying down. Thank You

It seems you’re experiencing severe pelvic and buttock pain radiating with movement, which is very suggestive of sciatic nerve irritation or piriformis syndrome — both can cause tight muscle contractions and sharp pain radiating to legs. Since X-ray ruled out bone issues, the next best step is to evaluate soft tissues and nerves — that’s why your doctor advised MRI. It helps detect disc prolapse, nerve compression, or muscle inflammation, which can’t be seen on X-ray. Meanwhile, you can: *Avoid prolonged sitting and sudden bending or lifting. *Apply warm compress over buttock area twice daily. Continue pain relief as prescribed. *Gentle stretching of the lower back and piriformis muscle (if tolerable). However, to treat the root cause (and not just suppress pain), your case needs detailed evaluation of symptoms and MRI findings if available. I can guide you with step-by-step home management, exercises, and medications tailored to your condition. You can message me personally for consultation on WhatsApp at nine three two six zero two zero five nine six so we can plan your recovery properly and avoid long-term nerve damage.

An Orthopaedic surgeon has done a physical examination and recommended  an MRI. MRI is a relatively safe investigation and you should get it done especially since it has been quite some time that you are suffering.

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern. Severe pelvic or buttock pain that worsens with movement and feels like a deep contraction can be quite distressing, especially when X-ray reports show no bone problem. Since bone causes are ruled out, this pain is most likely from muscle or nerve-related origin — such as Piriformis syndrome, sacroiliac joint inflammation, or lumbar nerve compression. ✅ Advices • Apply warm compress over the buttock and lower back region twice daily for 15 minutes to relax the tight muscles. • Avoid prolonged sitting or cross-legged posture. Use a firm surface and maintain upright sitting posture. • Do gentle stretching of the buttock and lower back muscles once pain reduces (piriformis and hamstring stretches help greatly). • Continue the painkiller as prescribed for 5 to 7 days, preferably with a muscle relaxant (as advised by your doctor). What to Monitor • Whether pain radiates down to the thigh or calf (indicates nerve involvement). • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the leg. • Any pain worsening at night or while coughing/sneezing. Management MRI is not mandatory in all cases, but it helps confirm if a disc or nerve root is being compressed. If pain remains severe after 10 to 14 days of conservative care, getting an MRI becomes important to avoid missing sciatica or spinal issues. Till then, rest, avoid heavy lifting, and use local Diclofenac or Thiocholchicoside gel gently over the area twice daily. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately • Pain radiating down to foot with tingling or numbness • Weakness or difficulty in standing/walking • Loss of bladder or bowel control Every patient’s situation is unique. For accurate diagnosis and lasting relief, it is important to discuss your pain pattern and history in detail. 👉 You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you will receive: A personalized treatment plan Safe medicine adjustments if required Quick follow-ups to track your recovery Take care, wishing you good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician
