Hello, Tailbone (coccyx) pain can sometimes persist even when an X-ray appears normal. The discomfort may arise from the coccyx itself, surrounding ligaments, muscles, nerves, or even old trauma-related changes that are not always visible on routine X-rays. Since you have a history of injury in the same area and the pain has been present for several months, an MRI can help identify the underlying cause more accurately. In the meantime, avoid prolonged sitting on hard surfaces, maintain proper posture, and use a soft cushion if needed. Once the exact cause is identified, a personalized treatment approach can be planned accordingly. Homoeopathic treatment focuses on understanding the complete history, nature of pain, associated symptoms, and individual constitution before selecting a suitable remedy. Many patients with chronic musculoskeletal complaints have found significant relief with a properly guided treatment plan. If you would like a detailed assessment of your case, you may connect with me for an online consultation. I will be happy to guide you further after understanding your symptoms in detail.

Get the MRI: Follow through with the MRI as advised by your doctor to pinpoint the exact cause of your pain. Use a Coccyx Cushion: While waiting for your scan, use a specialized "U" or "V" shaped cutout cushion when sitting. This takes the direct pressure off your tailbone. Apply Ice or Heat: Apply an ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the area for 15–20 minutes a few times a day to reduce inflammation. If the pain feels more like a muscle ache, a warm compress may help. Avoid Prolonged Sitting: Try to take frequent breaks to stand up and walk around. When you do sit, lean forward slightly to shift your weight off the tailbone.
Next Steps
After doing MRI  consult me online on practo we will discuss further

I can understand your concern. Tailbone (coccyx) pain that has persisted for several months, especially with a history of a fall and hairline fracture 10 years ago, deserves proper evaluation rather than repeated painkillers alone. It is possible that the pain may be arising from: • Coccyx (tailbone) itself • Sacrococcygeal joint inflammation • Ligaments and soft tissues around the tailbone • Muscle spasm in the pelvic or lower back region • Nerve irritation or referred pain from the lower spine Since your recent X-ray is normal, your orthopaedic doctor's suggestion for an MRI is reasonable because MRI can detect soft tissue inflammation, ligament injuries, bone marrow changes, nerve involvement, and other conditions that may not be visible on an X-ray. Meanwhile, I would like to know: • Is the pain worse while sitting, especially on hard surfaces? • Does it improve on standing or walking? • Any pain radiating to the legs? • Any numbness, tingling, or bowel/bladder symptoms? • Any recent weight loss, fever, or other health concerns? Until further evaluation: • Avoid prolonged sitting • Use a coccyx cushion or donut cushion while sitting • Avoid sitting on hard surfaces • Maintain proper posture • Gentle stretching may help if advised by your doctor In many chronic tailbone pain cases, especially where pain persists long after an old injury and investigations are inconclusive, individualized homeopathic treatment may help reduce inflammation, pain sensitivity, and improve healing. However, I would recommend completing the MRI if symptoms are persistent so that the exact cause can be identified. You may consult me with your X-ray reports, MRI (if done), and complete symptom history for a detailed assessment and individualized treatment plan. hello, Since the X-ray is clear, it may not necessarily be related to the bone. The pain could be associated with the muscles or nerves. If you are experiencing a burning or stitching type of pain, it may indicate nerve involvement. If the pain continues despite treatment and investigations, you may also consider consulting a regression therapist or a clinical hypnotherapist. Sometimes, after an accident, the body and nervous system can remain in a state of shock even when the physical injury has healed. This unresolved shock can continue to manifest as pain or discomfort. An accidental trauma release process may help the body and mind process and release the residual impact of the traumatic event, supporting overall recovery and well-being.
