Your symptoms are suggestive of post-operative TMJ inflammation (traumatic TMJ strain) due to prolonged mouth opening during the 2-hour procedure.
This is usually muscular and joint-related, not infection, if the extraction site is comfortable.
Most cases improve within 7–10 days.
⚠ If swelling, fever, difficulty opening mouth, or no improvement persists, consult your oral surgeon for evaluation.
Proper care will help you recover comfortably.
If pain is in the joint it is possible it is because of the prolonged procedure time. In the tooth area if there is no pain take muscle relaxants to improve joint pain.
Do a lot of warm water and salt rinses.
Eat soft diet
Give rest to the joint.
No wide opening of mouth
Next Steps
If there is swelling consult your oral surgeon soon
