This could be arthritis in your joint at this age. Put hand in hot water 2 3 times a day. Take few pain killers for 3 days. Don't over use the joint Ball physio after pain gets better

There can be a lot of reason of thumb pain including tenosynovitis, trigger thumb, dequervain etc.

Give rest to thumb. dont do work involving strain on thumb e.g. milking, twisting clothes while washing etc
