Pain in back of hand
Blood was drawn from a vein on the back of my right hand . The elbow vein was not used. Mild pain and slight tenderness at the site after collection. Kindly tell me how to get relief from this problem

Mild pain and tenderness at a blood draw site is completely normal and expected. The back of the hand has less soft tissue padding and more sensitive nerves close to the surface compared to the elbow crease, which is why it tends to be more uncomfortable after venipuncture. This is simply the local tissue response to the needle and typically resolves completely on its own within 1 to 3 days.

Apply a cold pack or ice wrapped in a cloth to the site for 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a day, to ease the tenderness. Keep the hand rested gently. Mild pain and tenderness after a blood sample is taken from a hand vein is common and usually settles within a few days. You can apply a cold compress for 10–15 minutes, 3–4 times a day during the first 24 hours. Avoid heavy lifting with that hand for 1–2 days.
If required, you may take Paracetamol for pain relief.

Observe the area for 2–3 days. Most cases improve on their own without any treatment.
