Oxygen saturation
My friend has tested covid positive 0n April 24. No symptoms developed only nasal congestion. His spo2 droped to 94 on 5th day of infection, and he had developed a little bit cough then we consulted with doctor and did hrct. Score was 10/25..he was in home isolation and as doctor prescribed we did so. Today is 28thday, Now he is fine,no symptoms,no weakness but my concern is his spo2 level is still 96-97. Why spo2 level is not increasing to 98-99. Does he still have infection in lungs or not.?? How much time will it take to get normal? On 15th day we did d- dimer test and it was 0.54 ug/ml and doctor prescribed blood thinner for 15 days , should he need to test again d-dimer. Please suggest

Any spO2 level of above 95% is normal. No need to worry. There wouldn't be any viral load in the lungs, though an RTPCR may still turn out to be positive sometimes, due to residual dead viral material and proteins present in the body. It is recommended that he test again for d-dimer levels and get a follow-up consult from your doctor for opinion on stoppage or continuation of anticoagulant therapy.
Health Tips
Follow COVID appropriate behavior. 1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 70% alcohol if soap and water are not available. 2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands 3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. 4. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. 5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and other people, particularly those who are coughing, sneezing and have a fever. 6. Wear cloth face coverings such as a mask in public settings, especially where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. 7. Ensure regular hand washing with soap and potable water after touching animals and animal products 8. Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with hands; Avoid contact with sick animals or spoiled animal products. 9. Strictly avoid any contact with other animals in the market (e.g., stray cats and dogs, rodents, birds, bats). 10. Avoid contact with potentially contaminated animal waste or fluids on the soil or structures of shops and market facilities. 11. Avoid consumption of raw or undercooked animal products: Handle raw meat, milk or animal organs with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.

Post covid it takes atleast 1 month for saturation to improve. So nothing to worry . If he has anyother symptoms like cough or breathlessness then he may need intervention. No need to repeat D- dimer
