Oversweating and shortness of breath
I have oversweating problem for many years. I thought it was due to the anxiety. After consultation for anxiety and depression, even though the anxiety and depression reduced, the oversweating didn't. My doctor ruled out the reason being anxiety. I have also shortness of breath. I have taken thyroid tests and it's being normal. I would be grateful if you could guide me to a solution. Thanks in advance...

So the primary hyperhiderosis(excessive sweating) has been ruled out for you, secondary hyperhidrosis has to be investigated and ruled out. The causes for secondary hyperhidrosis are: - Spinal cord injury - Alcohol abuse - Anxiety - Diabetes - Gout - Heart disease - Hyperthyroidism - Obesity - Parkinson's disease - Pregnancy - Respiratory failure - Shingles - Some cancers, such as Hodgkin's disease - Some infections - HIV, malaria, TB (tuberculosis) - Some medications, including some antidepressants, anticholinesterases (for Alzheimer's disease), pilocarpine (for glaucoma), propranolol (for high blood pressure) - Substance abuse You require further investigations to rule out all these causes and have them corrected. Some steps which may help in this situation are: - Antiperspirants: deodorants do not stop sweating, but antiperspirants sprays do. Some prescription antiperspirants include aluminum chloride, which plugs the sweat glands. - Armpit shields: pads worn in the armpit to protect a garment from perspiration. - Clothing : Loose clothing is better and materials such as cotton will be of help - Shoes - Natural materials, such as leather has shown to help. - Socks - use thick natural fiber socks - Apply powder over areas that are sweat dependant so that the moisture will be absorbed. Maintain a proper personal hygeine as in sweat dependant areas you're likely to get infections.
