Dear doctor,
I was in the habit of chewing rajnigandha(without Tobacco) and smoking for 12 years. I have developed osmf and certain brown pigmented areas inside my cheeks. I have visited an ENT and according to him there are is some ulceration as well. I have quit everything now. Still i am not able to consume spicy food, even a particle of chilli burns a lot. Kindly advice me the line of treatment so that i can manage eating some spices. Do let me know if these brown areas will ever go away as they have developed after 3 months of cessation of rajnigandha habit. Why do these patches develop after the habit was stopped. Its been 6 months now. If these areas will ever clear off and if they dont can they cause problem in future like malignancy or something. What is the percentage for malignancy conversion? Can you please help me, i shall be highly obliged. I promise not to start habit again.

Hello ,
To give answers to your questions without examination is difficult.
But can generalised the answer , if a ENT surgeon has examined you and stated that there is a ulcer - then if the ulcer doesn’t heal in 2-3 weeks time a biopsy is required.
This a premalignant state - for malignancy to develop cannot be answered in yes or no .
You require regular follow with the ENT surgeon who is treating you .
About eating spicy food - with time thing will improve can’t give a exact time line .
Hope I was able explain you .
